Information about Littlehampton

Here you will find a seaside themed pedestrian precinct with a variety of independent shops as well as the familiar high street stores and a great choice of pubs and restaurants to suit every taste. Our Farmer's Market is on the last Wednesday of every month.

Littlehampton has won the coveted South East in Bloom, Coastal Resort, Silver award for 2004. This reflects the high standard of parks and gardens in the town, together with the impressive town gateways, beautiful floral displays in the town centre and the resort's overall tidiness.

A visit to the excellent and friendly Littlehampton Museum is strongly recommended. It is a museum that displays real things used by real people. There are galleries that tell the Littlehampton story from BC - CD, and others about maritime history and photography past and present. The museum also runs an exciting and varied exhibition programme throughout the year. 2005 will include exhibitions from many talented local artists.

The Look & Sea! Visitor Experience is at the heart of the new riverside walk and takes visitors on an interactive journey through the geography, geology and history of Littlehampton and the Arun Valley. A climb to the top of the viewing tower is a 'must do' as you will be rewarded with the most breathtaking views of Littlehampton's very own natural harbour; the meandering River Arun and the town itself, which nestles at the foot of the South Downs.

The Swimming & Sports Centre has a 25m pool, teaching pool, saunas, fitness centre and provides good disabled access. There are excellent facilities for tennis, squash, bowls and golf, with several fine courses nearby.

Littlehampton regularly hosts major sea - angling competitions and boats are available for charter through the many reputable boat hire firms. River trips and crabbing from the pier complete the picture of fun for visitors of all ages.

Lovers of the English countryside will be ideally based to enjoy the South Downs, which offer spectacular scenery and enchanting villages. Cycling, horse riding or walking are ideal ways to take in the beauty of this environment.
